Trio ORKA-M and Sounding Buildings
Rajesh Mehta premiered an interpetation of "Songlines Jewels" - a graphical drawing cum painting which resulted from his inspiring 6 month residency collaborating with Carnatic music in Chennai, India as a Senior Creative Arts Fellow of the American Institute of Indian Studies. He had the outstanding participation of his closest musical partners - master Cellist Rohan de Saram , and South Indian percussion virtuoso Jayachandra Rao. The Trio bears the name "ORKA-M" of Mehta's international institute of innovative music which will be a pioneering facility for interdisciplinary and intercultural activities in production, research and education. He is presently establishing the operational base of ORKA-M in Mumbai, India
Mehta premiered a spatialized concert version in the "Ruemlingen Turnhalle" of his ongoing music-architecture entitled "sounding buildings" based on his graphical compositional system with some of the world's leading contemporary musicians:
